Did Ihop Change Its Name To Ihob

IHOP has officially rediscovered itself.

On Monday, the pancake house chain reverted to its long-standing name after a temporary switch to "IHOb" last month, with the "b" continuing for burgers. By flipping the "P" to "b," the restaurant generated some buzz to promote a new line-upwardly of beefiness patties.

Reverting to the original name is aimed to draw diners back to its cadre breakfast business organization -- in particular, a 60-cent pancakes promotion on July 17 celebrating IHOP'southward 60th birthday.

"Nosotros knew we had a very tough job to do to convince people that we take our burgers as seriously as we take our pancakes," said Stephanie Peterson, IHOP's executive managing director of communications. "So, we went bold with the campaign."

The concatenation originally hinted at a name alter on Twitter at the commencement of June, as information technology starting time revealed the "IHOb" name. One calendar week later, on June 11, the visitor officially announced the change.

IHOP was temporarily IHOb, with the "b" for burgers.

The name-modify move achieved what appears to have been its cadre goal: Information technology got people talking. IHOP's Word of Rima oris Score rose in the calendar week following its announcement, co-ordinate to YouGov, which tracks the perception of more than i,500 brands daily through its BrandIndex.

Notwithstanding, IHOP's rebranding try did not create a significant increase in the visitor's buy consideration, which measures the likelihood of consumers eating at a detail restaurant chain, YouGov constitute.

Only as reactions were mixed to IHOP's original name change, there has also been a variety of comments with this switch dorsum, ranging from appreciation to sass.

Though the company has officially inverse its name dorsum to IHOP, it confirmed on Twitter that it will still be selling its new burger line.
